Trifft man sie irgendwo in ihrer Wahlheimat Berlin, sieht man es der sympathischen, jugendlichen Dame auf den ersten Blick nicht an, dass man soeben der Königin des Latin-Blues begegnet ist, denn Vanesa Harbek wirkt fast etwas schüchtern und zieht mit ihrer bemerkenswert positiven Ausstrahlung jeden in ihren Bann. Doch wer sie einmal bei einer ihrer Shows erlebt hat, weiß, dass die 43jährige Musikerin eine wahre Löwin ist, die scheinbar mühelos, mit unglaublicher Power und Leidenschaft, die Bühne dominiert.
Dabei war es zunächst alles andere als einfach für die Künstlerin aus Buenos Aires, in der Männer-dominierten Musikszene Argentiniens Fuß zu fassen, wo Kultur wenig bis gar nicht unterstützt wird und wo eine Handvoll Leute das Ruder fest in der Hand hält und darüber entscheidet, wer wie weit kommt. Doch Vanesa, die seit ihrem 7. Lebensjahr klassisches Klavier spielt und mit 11 Jahren, nach dem Hören einer Eric Clapton Schallplatte, dem Blues verfiel und beschloss, Gitarristin zu werden, kämpfte sich durch. Sprüche ihrer südamerikanischen Musiker-Kollegen wie „Was willst Du denn als Frau hier auf der Bühne?“ sah Vanesa von Anfang an als Herausforderung und der Kommentar „Du spielst wie ein Mann“ eines männlichen Konzertbesuchers ist für sie bis heute ein etwas ungeschicktes Kompliment.

Sie will mit ihrer Musik Europa erobern [mit ihrer Gitarre, ihrer fantastischen Stimme und in High Heels], will ihren Traum, als Vollzeit-Künstlerin mit ihrer eigenen Band auf der Bühne zu stehen und Tourneen zu spielen, verwirklichen und sie will sich sicherer fühlen als in ihrer Heimat Argentinien, wo Leute auf offener Straße für 20 Euro erschossen werden. Also wagte sie den Sprung ins Unbekannte und ließ sich in Berlin nieder, wo sie heute als Musikerin und Malerin arbeitet. Nun macht sich Vanesa Harbek daran, auch Europa zu erobern.

Her musical trademark, the thrilling blend of traditional Blues with elements of Soul and Tango, has gotten the singer/guitarist - who also is an excellent trumpet player - the nickname “the female Carlos Santana. Though this title is geographically (Argentina vs. Mexico) as well as musically (Tango vs. Salsa) incorrect, both artists share the delicate guitar playing of Blues with a South American flair.
Blues, soul, rhythm and blues, swing, tango, jazz, rock and roll, latin, are the styles of this talented Argentinian singer / guitar player.

She has a versatile and powerful voice and moves comfortably in different musical styles.
She has a natural talent with the guitar. Her exquisite technique and solid sound , make a perfect combination for her virtuosity and quality as a performer.

Her latest album, „Visiones“ is an affair of the heart. On the one hand, because the musician/painter is aiming to finally conquer Europe with her new album, on the other hand, because „Visiones“ is the most personal album up-to-date of the 43-year-old Argentinian, who re-located in Berlin in 2016.
In 12 songs, sung in English, as well as in Spanish, VANESA HARBEK takes the listeners on a musical journey through her life and her soul, and she expresses herself not only musically, but also in a visual way, for there is a painting to each album title, painted by the South American artist herself, who’s works can also be seen in a gallery in Berlin.
